New York City Walking Tours - The Edgar Allan Poe Greenwich Village Walking Tour
From Edgar Allan Poe to the beat poets, join us to discover where American literature, painting, cinema, and modern music got their start. Named after the father of American poetry, this tour will explore the origins of the neighborhood that became the incubator for the art movements in the United States, from American literature and theater to stand-up comedy and classic rock.
This stroll through the winding, twisted streets of Greenwich Village takes you to sights including Washington Square, New York University, Sheridan Square, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, and the folk music clubs of Bleecker Street. For well over a century, “The Village” has nurtured struggling artists, writers and musicians from Edgar Allan Poe to the Beat poets to Bob Dylan. See where the Roosevelt's used to romp and where Jazz and Ragtime got much of their start. The fun quality that is the village will be found in this historic tour.

At the start of the tour Sam declared that "by the second pub, I'm largely irrelevant." As I look around at the seven people who started tonight as strangers and who are now laughing and chatting, I can see what he means.
